MALTA INTERNATIONAL ARTS BIENNALE 2013

     The 2013 MALTA  International ARTS BIENNALE

Inaugurated

On 5^th January 2013  In presence of  Prof.Dr.Fr Marius Zerafaand Mons. Gwan Azzopardi,

at  the RADISSON BLU Hotel & Spa at Golden Bay , the 2013 MALTA ARTS BIENNALE (created in 1995)was inaugurated and Awards presented to: OILS  & GRAPHICS: VincentAbdilla(Malta), Attilia Mantovani (Italy), Silvia Benoni (Italy),Rosa Pereira (Portugal),Corinne Peyron (France),Marta Vaneva(France),Maria Azzopardi(Russia/Malta),Francis Galea(Malta), SCULPTURE: Eva Kover (Hungary/Malta);ARCHITECTURE:Claude Bussuttil (Malta);INSTALLATION:Astrid Gillenius(Sweden);   LITERATURE:Christiane Peugeot(France),Mary Anne Zammit(Malta);UNDER 18:S.Azzopardi and Maria Kristina Xuereb.

The above works are on show until 31^st January in  the  four floors MUSEUM TEMPRA of  INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY ART-  MGARR LOCAL COUNCIL-Church Square-MGARR-Malta-Open Monday to Friday  8am-12pm & 1pm-4pm ,Saturday 8am-11.30am.Tel 2152 0011.

A Distiction award was presented to the  highly supportive of the MALTA ARTS BIENNALE  since day one:ZDISLAV BIEGANSKI , ROBERT WARD and ANGELO  GALEA.

To  26 NON-COMPETING artists  in the 2013 MALTA BIENNALE but  First Prize winners in earlier BIENNALES , a “Special Acclaim Award”of Malta Arts Biennale was presented.Their works are on show until  31^st January ,in the RADISSON BLU Hotel Lobby.The awards were personally collected by  RONALD BURNS (USA), NIKKI ARNETT DEPASQUALE( Malta/UK), PAUL HABER (Malta)who holds a personal sculptural Exhibition “FUSION “at the MUSEUM of FINE ARTS in Valletta until end of January ,RAPHAEL LABRO( France/Malta-Gozo)who holds an exciting solo exhibition at the RUSSIAN CULTURAL CENTRE  in Valletta and whose Orpheas ingratiate until 31^st January the lobby of the RADISSON,GUY LEMESRE (France) exhibition in the lobby of the Excelsior Hotel  FLORIANA, GIOVANNI TREVISAN (Italy) who enchanted the public with his multi-faceted Venices(ten of them at the RADISSON Lobby until 31^st January), and  DAVID XUEREB (Malta)whose works can be seen permanently at the  GALLERY  LAST TOUCH, Main Street, MOSTA,open daily  9am-1pm & 3pm -7pm-Tel 2743 7963.

Both Marie-Therese Vassallo, Director of the MALTA CULTURAL INSTITUTE with her 20 strong choir and Maestro  Manoel Pirotta with his 18 strong University Music students ,received the most clamorous public acclaim ,in the ballroom .
